Toyota also has promised Hydrogen Fuel Cell car, based on the FCV-R concept, will go on sale in 2015.
Ix35 propulsion system will produce 134 hp and proprietary system has a modular stack that converts hydrogen into electricity to power the crossover machine. Driving range will be approximately 370 miles with a top speed of 99.4 mph, and will accelerate to 62 mph from a standstill in 12.5 seconds.
In Geneva, the Korean automaker also showcased a hydrogen fuel cell-electric variant of the new ix35, and John Krafcik, CEO of Hyundai USA, has confirmed that it will go to America and will be offered in all 50 states.
New Tucson will not be heading to the United States until 2015, although details about the launch of a hydrogen fuel-cell electric models are not revealed. Krafcik did say however, that the car has not been determined if the vehicle is going to roll out in certain countries first, as has happened with some electric vehicles.
